Changing Designation
Users have the ability to change a designation, however, if it is something that is being done after designated inventory has already been distributed, it may cause over-allocation. Additionally, there are some very specific limitations involved.
Limitations
The most important limitation to remember when performing this operation is that the inventory will only be affected if it is in the same UOM that appears on the order being edited. Because of this you must ensure that the items being changed are in the same UOM as it was in the order it was received on
Another limitation to consider is that a designation can only be changed at the Order level, not an individual item level. Because of this, all items on an order have to be changed.
How to Change an Order's Designation
Locate the order on the Received Orders grid that is being updated, open the details, and change the value in the Designated To box. Then, save the order.
After saving the order, the system will remove each of items that are on the original order for the old designation and add new entries with the new designation
How do I know if an item was over-allocated?
Go to the reports tool and run the Over Inventory Items Report and you will be presented with a list of all food items that have been over allocated
