Food Category

Food items should all belong to a Category. The category is usually determined by Food Group that the item is in, however it is up to the user how they want to categorize items within their system. Keep in mind that pantry menus are usually organized by category and impose certain restrictions on items on a per category basis. 

To get to the Food Category Maintenance screen, expand the Maintenance section on the Navigation bar and select the Food Category option.

Adding a Food Category

Click the Add Food Category button in the top right of the Food Category grid to open the Add Food Category dialog window.

Add the name of the category you would like to add and click the Save button. The system will automatically translate items into the languages added to your system either when you change the category name, or when the Translate button is clicked. 


If a language your system uses is not included in this list, you will have to add the language before adding the Category.

Note that if you add a language after a category has been added, you will have to go back to that category and translate for the new language. 

If the Translate Manually check box is checked, the system will not attempt to translate the item name into that language.
